Best Appliance Deals brought you by Appliances for Home

We bought electrolux kitchen appliances despite advice that they were “hit or miss”. The look and the features are very alluring, and they seemed to be worth the premium pricing. We also held Electrolux in high esteem due to their Swedish origin and strong reputation in the vacuum business. We hoped for a “hit”.
This dishwasher was delivered and installed by the dealer. Some features listed in the literature were missing – like the corner cutlery basket covers – and we were told that those were only provided on the next model up in the line. I went back to the literature and found that there was NO WAY to have known this.
The door gasket was assembled improperly, such that the lower rack rubbed against it every time it was rolled in and out. The door didn’t leak, but I was sure that over time the wear from the rubbing would lead to a leak. Had to get service to replace the gasket — only cost my time and a couple of half days off work (but why should I have to do this).
We used the DW 3 or 4 times successfully, noting that it didn’t fully dissolve the detergent powder. Six weeks into using it, the unit showed a “Leak Detected” code, and wouldn’t work any more. I gave up another half day of work to wait for a service man to come and confirm that the leak code was indeed as I had reported on the phone – a total waste of my time. Turns out that this is a common failure in these units – Electrolux produces a repair kit to correct this engineering design flaw. But they DON’T freely distribute this kit for some reason. I had to wait 3 weeks for Elux to ship it to me directly (once, receiving the wrong part to fix the problem). Why on earth, can’t they see to it that repairmen have one or two of these kits on their truck at all times?! Saves them money – costs me time and aggravation!
Still waiting for my dishwasher to work. Getting better and better at handwashing each and every day. This is modern living – supported by my investment in premium priced Electrolux appliances (sarcasm, if you didn’t get it).
I have NO confidence in Electrolux appliance quality, and even less (;-) )in their ability to provide parts and proper service for the units under warrantee.
Meanwhile I have no recourse, because appealing to Electrolux is a bit like talking to a wall. Either they’re overwhelmed because of the volume of calls they get on their poor quality products, or their idiots, or their interest ends when they have my money safely in their accounts. Nice business model, especially in a down economy. Good luck to them. Problem is, consumers need to get the word out to others who are considering the purchase — after you pay, it’s too late.
Best not to be lured in by the beautiful surfaces and attractive feature lists — from my experience, these units are bone ugly!

Have the same problem – Flashing ER01 and the nightmare service to correct it. Worked for 3 months then failed with the ER01 error. It took 30 days for the “mandatory replacement kit” to arrive and for service to install it. Worked for 3 more months then the same thing. Called Electrolux – guess what?? – same process!! You need to have them order the same “mandatory” replacement kit and schedule another install.
Seems they won’t consider a product replacement until you’ve gone throught this process “at least twice” ….So I’m now on the 2nd go-round of defer, delay, keep installing the same part (that apparantly has a life expectancy of 3 months) and refuse to address a engineering defect until the warranty runs out. No wonder its the most quiet DW in its class! All SHOW and NO GO.
If you don’t mind wahsing dishes the old fashion way for an extended period of time while project managing the service / repair process – then “this dud is for you”

I was looking for a way to fix my Electrolux dishwasher because it has Er 01 flashing on it when I cam across Amazons reviews. I purchased mine from sears just over a year ago. I would never by this brand again. I am seriously considering taking it our back and using it for target practice and buying another dishwasher. Do youself a favor and avoid spending the money on these faulty units.

Our experience was nearly identical to Joe B’s: dishwasher showed Error Code 2 (failed thermistor/turbidity module) just a year after we bought it (so of course it was out of warranty and we had to pay $200+ for the repairs). To get to the point where we could start paying we dealt with an impossibly stupid group of service reps on the phone, first to ship the necessary parts to our home (well over a week to ship), then another round or two to schedule service. I will say the technician who did the repair (via Sears, which is where we purchased the DW) was meticulous. I worked with him to completely uninstall the unit, invert it, replace the module and reinstall it. His advice: Buy a Kitchenaid.
The only thing the service reps were good at was trying to get us to purchase an extended warranty. Well, I guess they weren’t that good because we declined. Rather than pop for an additional $100+, we decided that the next time it breaks we would purchase a real dishwasher. You know, one that actually washes dishes. And gets them clean. And even dries them. So I suppose we should be happy that only 3 months after the first repair, our Electrosux broke again, this time with Error Code 1 = Leak detected. No visible leaks, so it might just be an amusing little electrical hiccup. I do note that the owner’s manual details 13 various codes, so if we kept the machine we could probably become acquainted with the remaining 11 in just a few years.
Just bought a Kitchenaid.

we bought a full kitchen of electromux appliances. To date 4 out of 5 have failed or were improperly installed.
This dishwasher really takes the list of worst product ever to a new level of absurdity
We have had 6 service calls over 90 days and still not working. As the other woman mentioned, we are beaming experts in handwashing.
They have replaced every internal electrical component, sensors, drain plugs and more.
The last yahoo service man said why didn’t we buy the extended warranty. You shouldn’t have to. The product is only 14 months old.
This last time the jokers at eletromux said they would send a different service company because it must be unqualified staff not defective product. When we lived in Europe they were great products, but this garbage they sell in the US as premium product is a total waste.
I will never ever buy another eletromux product again. Warn your friends, warn your enemies.
